Lakhovsky's theory
What Georges Lakhovsky actually claimed — presented soberly, with a clear line between the historical hypothesis and current knowledge.
Who was Lakhovsky?
Georges Lakhovsky (1869–1942), a Russian-French engineer. Not a physician — that matters, and we say it plainly. He came from engineering, published in Paris from the 1920s, and at times worked with clinicians who used his apparatus.
The cellular oscillator hypothesis
Lakhovsky assumed every living cell behaves like an electrical resonant circuit: the nucleus with its nucleic filaments as an inductance, membrane and cytoplasm as capacitance and dielectric. Every cell would thus have its own resonant frequency.
Cosmic radiation as the energy source
The energy for these oscillations was supposed to come from natural ambient electromagnetic radiation — Lakhovsky spoke of “cosmic waves”. From today’s view, a stopgap answer to the open question of what would feed the circuit.
Disease as disrupted oscillation
He read disease as a “war of oscillations”: pathogenic cells force their oscillation onto healthy cells or damp them. Health, in this picture, is a state of stable cellular oscillation.
Why broadband instead of one frequency
The device design follows from the hypothesis: if every cell has a different resonant frequency, no single-frequency generator can reach them all. Hence the MWO radiates an extremely broad spectrum — each cell was supposed to pick out “its own” frequency.
From the Radio-Cellulo-Oscillator to the MWO
In 1924 Lakhovsky built the Radio-Cellulo-Oscillator (a tube generator with one base frequency); from 1931 the Multiple Wave Oscillator brought the broadband design: spark gap, Tesla coils, concentric ring antennas. That is the design we replicate.
Cells do show electrical phenomena: membrane potentials, ion currents, measurable dielectric properties. Bioelectricity is an active research field. That biological structures can respond to electromagnetic fields is undisputed — the questions are how, at what intensities, and to what effect.
The cell as an LC circuit with a fixed resonant frequency is not accepted by modern cell biology; the nucleus is not a coil, and “cosmic waves” as an energy source are not physically tenable.
